On Monday, 29th April 2024, Netis Ghana Limited participated in the maiden Africa Resilient ESG and Sustainability Awards Program which was held at the Accra International Conference Centre in Ghana.
The Program which started at 8:30am and ended at 1:00pm was organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations through its agency – the Factories Inspectorate Department, and in partnership with the Ghana Institute of Safety and Environmental Professionals (Ghisep) and Think Safety Global Centre for Sustainable Development Practice. Key sponsors for the event included the Ghana Ports and Habours Authority, Interplast, UniChem Ghana Limited, Ghacem, Recyclers Ghana Limited, Institute for Sustainable and Environmental Solutions (SEES), Classic Halt – The mind of Technology, Way Studio and Diamond Cement Group.
The event was merged with the World Safety Day Celebration (Theme: Climate Change – Impact on Health and Safety) which is commemorated annually by the Factories Inspectorate Department in partnership with Key stakeholders in industry, government, and academia. This year’s event drew in participants from telecommunication, mining, renewable energy, waste management, manufacturing, construction, oil and gas, academia, etc. The theme for Africa Resilient ESG and Sustainability Awards 2024 was “Investing in Sustainability Is Investing in Humanity”.
The mission and Purpose of the Awards Scheme: The Africa ESG and Sustainability Awards aim to recognize, celebrate, and inspire organizations contributing significantly to sustainability and ESG in Africa. The awards serve as a platform for knowledge sharing and best practice exchange, raising awareness of sustainability and ESG issues among the public and policymakers in Africa.
Background: Launched in 2022 on World Safety Day as the Global HSE Contest and Awards, the Africa ESG and Sustainability Awards highlight best practices in sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives across the continent. The awards are made possible by a team of passionate and experienced professionals dedicated to making a positive difference in Africa.
Notable individuals who were part of the organization, and vetting committee/panel of judges for the Maiden awards Program include, Professor Clinton Aigbaboa (Professor of Construction Industry Development and Sustainable Human Settlement – College of Arts, Technology and Environment, University of West of England, Bristol, UK; also visiting Professor in the school of civil Engineering of the Shandong University, China); Engr. Dr. Ibrahim Salifu Osumanu (a sustainability Advocate with over 18 years of experience in Industry and Academia); Mr. Gangaa C. SHARMA (Managing Director & CEO of CETIZION Verica, a global advisory and audit company); Engr. Mrs. Miriam Eduful (F.PE IET (GH), F.OSHA UK, SMIEEE, MGhisep, C-SEMP, currently the Head of Health, Safety and Environment Division of the Ghana Electricity Company); Mr. Eric Kekeli Adzor-Daniels (Managing Partner, Think Safety Global; Business Continuity Management Systems and ESG Professional); Mr. Ekow Appiah Kwofie (Power and Clean Energy Professional with over 13 years of Energy sector experience in Africa); Mrs. Elsy Adadey (CEO, Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana, Accra); Engr. Dr. Mrs. Milicent Agangiba (Head of Department, Information Technology, UPSA, Accra); Capt. Rtd. H. Raji Abdallah (QHSSE Practitioner, ESG and Sustainability Auditor CEO and Managing Partner of RAJHART ENT); Engr. Nana Alfred Chinbua (Safety and Sustainability Consultant. EHS Manager, Environmental Health, and Safety Sustainability, Mensin Gold Bibiani Mine Managing Director, Fire Safety consulting Services Company Ltd.); Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah (Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ghana) and, George D. Gashon (Acting Chief Inspector of Factories, Ghana), who was the host of the event. A representative of the First Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) Secretariat in Accra, Ghana, H. E. Wamkele Mene, graced the occasion and delivered a speech, emphasizing the arrangements of the Secretariat to support industry players on the continent to strive for and excel in the implementation of ESG and sustainability requirements and standards.
Netis Ghana became aware of the Awards Program through the Professional affiliation of staff of the SHERQ Department with Ghisep and decided to research more from Think Safety Global through its online platform Think Safety (thinksafetyglobal.com). Schedule for application for the awards spanned from 14th March 2024 to 23rd March 2024.

Netis Ghana applied for the Africa ESG and Sustainability Company of Year and was honored to receive an award as the Africa Telecommunication Infrastructure and Sustainable Communities Company of the Year. The Award was presented by Engr. Mrs. Miriam Eduful, President of Ghisep, Ghana, and received on behalf of Netis Ghana by Zakaria Ibrahim Esq (Legal & SHERQ); Frederickah Ayeh (Sales Manager) and Godwin Gbene (SHERQ Implementation Lead).
The occasion brought together several industry players and afforded the Netis Ghana representatives the opportunity to networks and Market the Netis brand.
